Human Sperm

Sperm Imaged by Fluorescence Taken with a PAXcam2+ digital microscope camera and an Olympus BX51 fluorescence microscope outfitted with phase contrast. A specialized staining technique causes human sperm heads to fluoresce green (see http://www.paxit.com/sperm_analysis.asp for more details). One image was taken under fluorescence to capture the green sperm, and one image was taken under phase contrast to capture the background cell morphology. The two images were then fused using PAX-it's image processing routine to create the final image showing the placement of sperm within the field of view. Images can then be stored in a PAX-it Image Analysis software database.
